"I am extremely pleased with President Obama's nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the United States Supreme Court.  She is outstandingly qualified and will bring intellect, thoughtfulness and compassion to the Court as well as important diversity in our increasingly diverse country.  I encourage the U.S. Senate to act promptly to confirm this historic nomination."
